Compose a growing kit for beginners

Following the many questions on the subject here are some tips for new growers regarding the composition of your kits, here we will mainly focus on grow kits with LED and HPS lighting.

On the other hand, Belgian law prohibits giving gardening advice of a certain kind, so I will have to weigh my words and not go into too explicit details.

Back to our composition of the kit, what do we need to compose a kit for a first grow? (For the first time it will be better to choose a low-budget kit to get your hands dirty and familiarize yourself with gardening)

From cans - saucers

Fertilizers - syringe - doser

potting soil – for the choice of soil it depends on the style of culture desired, for a new grower I would advise to start with soil and organic fertilizer from Plagron for example, it is a Dutch brand of fertilizer and soil easy to cultivate because they are not very concentrated, this will avoid over-fattening

Lighting adapted to the cultivated area - on this point I like to insist on the fact that a lamp that is not powerful enough in a growing space that is too large means that your lighting will have little efficiency in terms of reflection on the tarpaulin or mylar wall, and the On the other hand, lighting that is too powerful in a small space may cause you temperature concerns, to be taken into account.

A fan – it is always better to take two fans in order to fix 1 level of the lamp to blow in the direction of the LED bars or your bulb, and a 2nd lower fan which would blow directly towards the plants, this will help your lamp to heat less and you to last longer.

An air extractor – the choice of the extractor flow rate will mainly depend on the lighting, for example in HPS 600W I will use an air extractor at 500-600m3/h, and in 600W LED I will use 400-500m3/h.

A charcoal filter – For the choice of the filter it will preferably be a filter with a higher air flow than the extractor, for example: carbon filter 950m3/h / extractor 800-900m3/h.

A humidifier - unless you live in an environment with high humidity, then we may opt for the dehumidifier during the flowering period.

A thermometerhygrometer

A timer which will be used to control your lamps, air extractors and other electrical appliances

For an area of 100x100cm

Box : Garden Highpro Probox Ecopro 100 (tubes 16mm)

Lighting : Sunmaster 400W Dual spectrum in winter - Mars Hydro FC-E3000 outside the winter period, the advantage of HPS – MH bulbs is the fact that they heat up so much that you may not need to use the heating during lighting hours. And the advantage of LEDs is that since they give off little heat, you won't have to constantly use your air extractor, fans, air conditioning to the maximum.

Extractor : Mars Hydro 100mm - Vents TT 125

Charcoal filter : Prima Ecoline 100mm or 125mm

Fan/pots/timers/sheath : No preference, choose according to your preferences.

humidifier : a humidifier of 4 to 6 liters maximum will do, because you have to think about leaving room for pots and plants.

Thermostat – Inkbird humidistat: Not mandatory but highly recommended if the budget allows it.

Fertilizer : Plagron, CANNA, Biobizz (easy to manage for a beginner)

potting soil : Starting your culture with Plagron Allmix will do the trick because it is not too light, not too loaded with nutrients, but more loaded soils like Batmix or Royalmix, Biocanna Terra Plus are just as good, in this case you will have to adapt the fattening.

Here is already for the beginning but I will continue to feed this page when the time allows me, I hope that the information was clear and understandable because until now I always manage the shop in solo and I do not have the leisure to frequently post advice as I would like to do.

See you soon growers
